Our Story

Behind The Blooms

Greene Thumb was officially established in 2026, but our story began long before then.

I’ve been drawn to flowers since childhood. One of my earliest memories is my pre-school teachers’ amazement when I confidently named the flower varieties we passed on class walks around town. What felt instinctive then would, over time, become a lifelong passion.

Throughout grade school, I “worked” alongside my mom in her gardens. I may not have contributed much in those early years, but she always made me feel included and gave me a sense of ownership over the space, regularly planting varieties I selected from local nurseries, even when they weren’t her first choice.

As the gardens, and I, grew, taking garden tours became one of my favorite activities. Whether walking family, friends, or coworkers around the beds, I would note which varieties were thriving, share a few fun facts about each plant, and imagine how the space might continue to evolve.

When I purchased my own home, my affection for flowers really bloomed. I started growing the majority of what I planted from seed with a modest system of grow lights and shelves in my basement. This gave me a better understanding of how to create optimal conditions for plants to thrive and produce strong, healthy flowers.

Over time, I refined my selections, expanding the repertoire of landscape plants that I grew up with to include new and unique cut flower varieties. From early-season hardy annuals to late summer succession plantings, each growing season was planted with greater intention and became a study in both beauty and performance.

In 2022, my sister asked me to grow and arrange the flowers for her wedding. Wanting everything to be perfect, I initially encouraged her to hire a professional florist. After several conversations and her unwavering confidence, I finally agreed. That experience became the catalyst for Greene Thumb.

As I immersed myself more deeply in floral design, I discovered that few designers grew the flowers they used in their work. I drew from my firsthand experience with each stem to create arrangements that reflected the season and felt abundant and natural, as though gathered from a flourishing garden.

Our aesthetic remains the same today: fresh, free-flowing, garden-inspired designs that pair thoughtful artistry with nature at its peak. Whether for the most sophisticated wedding or a simple market bouquet, our high-quality flowers are rooted to the land from which they grew.
